Edinburgh is Scotland's capital and second largest city. It is home to the Scottish Parliament, which is situated at the foot of the Royal Mile. Edinburgh is world famous for the Edinburgh Festivals held every August, including the Fringe and Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
Other popular attractions include Edinburgh Zoo, the Castle, and just outside the city is the Royal Yacht Britannia at Leith.
Glasgow is Scotland's largest city. Attractions include the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, Glasgow Science Centre and the Willow Tea Rooms, designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1904.
Scotland is also world famous as the home of golf. There are over 500 courses, including the challenging links courses. Some of the more famous are St Andrews, Muirfield and Carnoustie – home of the Open Championship in 2007.
Another claim to fame are the 3000+ castles in Scotland including the Scottish home of the Queen, Balmoral, Glamis, the birth place of the Queen Mother, and Stirling Castle which towers over the battlefield of Bannockburn.
